Let's Play PhyEd Challenge reaches its peak

The second year of the biggest school sport initiative in South Africa, The Let’s Play Physical Education Challenge, reached its peak yesterday!.

Together with headline sponsor, Steers, the Challenge reached new heights, 651 schools competed, with over 71 000 participants and 601 000 learners engaged in Phys’ed!

Our teams visited almost 300 towns, travelled over 374 000 kms and changed the lives of many children. In many instances, this was the first time that children had experienced the fun and excitement of competing in an event of this magnitude, providing an alternative to the negative influences that so many children are faced with on a daily basis.

Just nine remaining schools competed in the National finals yesterday to determine the fittest school in SA! On standby are our partners/sponsors Hitachi Construction Machinery and the Sports Trust, who will deliver the magnificent prize of a R1.3 million multi-purpose sports court to the winning school – Rosendal Intermediate in Upington!

THE SCHOOLS THAT TOOK PART:

Northern Cape - Rosendal Intermediate School
Eastern Cape - Lettie De Klerk Primere Skool
Western Cape - Victoria Park Primary School
Free State - Leeuwspruit Primary School
Gauteng - Bryandale Primary School
North West - Laerskool Generaal Hendrick Schoeman
Limpopo - Jane Furse Comprehensive School
Mpumalanga - Khombindlela Primary School
KZN - Gokul Primary School
